Marina Dinevi – The 2008 Summer Hit
This is not just a boat parking lot but an amusement hub as well
In the past the village of Sveti Vlas (already a town since 2006) was considered to be the back yard of Sunny Beach. But now the situation is quite different. Thanks to the developers Dinevi brothers Sveti Vlas (their home town) has now not only turned into a modern resort but also into a synonym of a truly luxurious holiday. It can even be said that Sunny Beach is now the place where holidaymakers go to sleep after partying in Sveti Vlas. This twist is mostly due to the Marina Dinevi yacht port. A few years ago the enterprising brothers were not only the pioneers in the yacht business in Bulgaria but were also the first to see that without a port things wouldn’t work.
And it turned out a port can make all the difference. Now the coastal area next to the Marina offers a number of bars and restaurants, the five-star boutique hotel Palace with two restaurants, a swimming pool and a casino, many shops and boutiques, a disco with Jacuzzi and a promenade.
All this shapes an elite yacht port that would make even the most glamorous resorts proud. Very close to the port are the developments Diamond and Arena where one can find a piano bar, an internet center, an amphitheater with 450 seats, a gym, a spa, a medical center, a supermarket, a hairdresser’s and a church.
Marina Dinevi has a capacity for about 300 yachts. Let us imagine that you have decided to have a cruise around Bulgaria along the river Danube. You have sampled apricot brandy in the town of Silistra, you have visited the Evksinograd palace, you have feasted your eyes on the pretty women on the Varna beach and you are heading south to Sveti Vlas. The rules say you must inform the port about your plans to berth there at least 24 hours in advance. In this so-called notification you must tell your name, the flag under which you are sailing and registration number of the vessel, as well as the number of crew members and guests on board. About 2-3 miles from the marina you must switch the ultra-short-wave radio to 73rd channel and ask for permission to enter its waters. Have it in mind that the maximum allowed speed in the entry canal is 3 knots. In case you need help the two port sailors on duty will assist you with the maneuvers with a small boat. After the mooring your yacht and you will receive everything to make you feel as if you are in a hotel. Electricity, fresh water, cable TV and wireless internet connection. However, you shouldn’t think them the only services the Marina offers. A specialized team of the Dinevi brothers company Venid-Yacht (dealing in the maintenance of your vessel) is also at your disposal. The yacht will be washed with fresh water, dried and ready for your evening cruise. The Marina also has a team of divers. They are very important in case you drop your mobile phone in the water. Not that it would work ever again but at least you will have your SIM card contacts.
The great extra in the port is the special pump for pumping out the dirty water and the faecal tanks of the boats. If there is no such equipment the yachts must go at least 30 miles into the sea to dispose of them. Therefore, it is no wonder that last year Marina Dinevi received a Blue Flag award. It is awarded if 35 criteria are fulfilled and Marina manager Kolyo Marinov proudly tells how the exacting German lady that came to perform the audit was extremely surprised that such an investment has been made in a Bulgarian port. Even in Greece very few ports have such a pump.
We hope you never need to use it but the port also has a repair and service center with a workshop, three mechanics and a yacht equipment shop. Yachts of up to 8 meters in length can be taken in tow.
The novelty offered this season is the charter programme. You can hire one of the ten brand new (model 2008) motor and sailing boats together with the trained crew. They are all at the Marina Dinevi and are at your disposal at any time. Last season about 100 transit boats berthed at the marina. Half of them were sailing under a foreign flag and the biggest one was the 30-meter Navetta 30, model of Ferretti. This is also the maximum vessel length which Marina Dinevi can welcome.
During the winter about 100 boats (up to 40 tons) can be docked at the pier. There is a special crane that takes them out of the pier and lowers them on water. The process of putting the yacht away for the winter includes the cleaning of the vessel and the putting away of all ropes, rescue equipment, antennas and radars. The water is also drained and is replaced by antifreeze, just like with cars. But there is a lot of time until winter sets in. Now summer is yet to come and it is party time. Marina Dinevi in Sveti Vlas is the place where the true playboys cast anchor.
