Third edition of the London Festival of Bulgarian Culture runs from 20th October until 17th December 2014

Bulgarian culture and art will be presented in the third edition of the London Festival of Bulgarian Culture, organized by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute London in assistance with the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the UK.

The program of the third edition of the London Festival of Bulgarian Culture is a real cultural kaleidoscope - symphonic and chamber concerts, jazz and folklore music, exhibitions, cinema shows and theatre plays. The concerts will be presented in one of the most famous rooms in Central London - Cadogan Hall, Clapham Grand and the Royal College of Music.

This year’s opening concert took place in Cadogan Hall, a prestigious hall which hosts the concerts of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The band which was conducted by Bulgarian conductor Martin Panteleev performed the entire music program. The first part of the concert included performances of pieces by Marin Goleminov and two very beautiful folk songs by Georgi Andreev to the rendition of Vania Vatralova Stankov. A music piece by conductor Martin Panteleev and a piece by Dobrinka Tabakova also sounded on stage. The second part included mainly performance of the renowned Bulgarian piper Theodosii Spassov. He presented his own pieces for shepherd’s flute and symphonic orchestra.

Film shows and theatre plays were be organized at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute London. On 1st November was opened an exhibition of works by renowned Bulgarian artists Dechko Uzunov and Georgi Chapkanov. On 12th and 13th of November the popular Bulgarian actress Tatyana Lolova will be a guest of the festival when will be present a movie about her. The director of the film Georgi Toshev will also join the event.

Several events will be also dedicated to the renowned Bulgarian basso Boris Christoff in respect of his 100th birth anniversary. The jubilee was included in the UNESCO calendar of cultural events and the whole world commemorates this great Bulgarian throughout 2014.

Salsa Latino /Jazz Concert with the stars of Bulgarian Jazz and Latino music - the jazz musician Mihail Yossifov and the actor and percussionist Kalin Veliov will be held on 25 November in the Clapham Grand Hall.

Two nights will be dedicated to the work of the great Bulgarian film and theatre director, Georgi Dyulgerov. This will include the London film première of “Buffer Zone” & Theatre 199 presenting the play "Kiki Van Beethoven".
