BULGARIAN PROPERTIES' Chief Operations Manager: Foreigners are the most active buyers of holiday homes
Polina Stoykova, Chief Operations Manager of real estate agency BULGARIAN PROPERTIES, gave an interview for Horizont program of the Bulgarian National Radio, in which she comments the holiday home market in Bulgaria. According to the data of the company the foreign buyers are the most active parties on the holiday home market in the ski and seaside resorts in Bulgaria.
At present buyers from Russia and Russian-speaking countries make up about 40% of all foreign buyers in the country, as some of the other foreign buyers are French, Italian, German, etc. The British, who were the most active holiday home buyers a few years ago, are now mostly playing the role of sellers: they are selling the properties they bought during the property boom.
The boom of the big investments in holiday complexes is now over and the result of the crisis is higher supply and less demand. At the moment it is mainly finished properties with which deals are concluded, as there are also quite a few resales from British owners of holiday homes.
At present the British act mainly as sellers of the holiday homes they bought some years ago as the reasons for that are different: mainly financial difficulties, their not being able to afford a home abroad or need of financial resources they can get by selling something they do not need at the moment.
This means that at present holiday home buyers are in a very good position as they can strike a great deal both in beach and ski resorts in Bulgaria.
