Functioning farm in the area of Zemen

Functioning small ruminant farm with necessary equipment in the area of Zemen, in a mountainous area in southwestern Bulgaria.

The property consists of four stables for raising up to 1350 small ruminants, with a separate newly-built transformer station and a separate water source, with water accumulated in an 80 cubic tank.

The available synthetic sheep population as of 29.01.2025 is 250 ewes and 80 lambs, with the total number of lambs expected to reach 200 by the end of March 2025. The basis of the elite breed synthetic population is the Lacaune breed, with annual improvement of milk yield and data by importing males from proven elite farms (2024 - Golden Farm, Zlatograd). Provided hay and alfalfa until the end of May, and 3 months of the 2025/2026 winter season.

• Built a two-chamber fertilizer pit - suggests technological possibility of selling fertilizer for flowers and other fine plants;
• Licensed abattoir as required by BDA and a service veterinarian available;
• Dairy milk storage;
• Hall and equipment for pressing and drying of sausages;

• System of units for grinding, preparation and mixing of concentrated feeds;
• Hall and feed mill for roughages;
• Hay and alfalfa storage sheds with a minimum feeding capacity of 2 years;

The south-eastern exposure of the property is suitable for a photovoltaic installation of up to 0.5 MW (indicative yield according to a neighbouring PV farm - 60 MWh in summer season, 30 MWh in winter season).

The farm is located next to approximately 2000 decares of pasture without the need for unnecessary transportation of animals. The grazing season on the land starts in April and ends no earlier than the beginning of November. In addition, long-term leases have been concluded for over 1000 decares of grazing land, with option to expand to approximately 2500.

The property includes four apartments for the farm's support staff.

The town of Zemen is located 70 km from Sofia, almost halfway between Radomir and Kyustendil, on both banks of the Struma river, in a small valley, close to the Pchelina dam.
