VIDIN DANUBE BRIDGE II WILL RECEIVE CONSTRUCTION PERMIT BY END OF APRIL
Vidin Danube Bridge II road and railway project connecting Bulgaria to Romania is expected to receive Bulgarian construction permit by the end of April, Vidin regional governor Krustyo Spasov said.
Danube Bridge II will be part of the European transport corridor IV and will receive 70 million euro from the European Commission.
Spanish company Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC) won the tender for design and construction of the bridge after nearly 15 years of negotiations.
The construction project is worth 99.9 million euro. Work must be completed within 38 months, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
French engineering company INGEROP and UK business advisors High-Point Rendel will supervise the accomplishment of the project.
Danube Bridge II in its entirety will cost 236 million euro and will be funded by EU’s ISPA programme, the European Investment Bank (EIB), Germany and France.
ISPA finances major environmental and transport infrastructure projects in Central and Eastern Europe.
Over 30 companies have already showed interest in the construction of the infrastructure adjoining the bridge, Spassov said. The companies have to purchase tender documents by the end of May 21 and prepare their offers until the autumn.
