Strong Summer Season for Bulgarian Tourism
This year tourism experts in Bulgaria advise everyone planning to spend their summer vacation in Bulgaria to book it well in advance – which is valid both for Bulgaria’s beach resorts and for the spa and wellness resorts inland. According to specialists there are very few vacancies left on first line on the beach and most hotel owners sold out all early bookings whose prices are lower by 15-20%. Part of the owners who have already sold out most of their accommodations are offering the unbooked rooms at slightly higher prices. Experts in the sector forecast that as a whole this summer there will be more tourists, an increase in interest in new charter flights and more such flights from Russia and Western Europe.
Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Tourism Ivo Marinov commented that the expected increase of tourists coming to Bulgaria this summer will come Germany, Russia and the Scandinavian countries. The forecast is indirectly confirmed by early bookings from Russian tourists which have tripled compared to 2010. As a whole, the increase in tourist flow from Russia to Bulgaria will be 20-30% compared to summer 2010.
According to the data of the Regional Association of Hotel and Restaurant Owners there will also be 15-20% more tourists staying in the hotels along Bulgaria’s northern Black Sea coast compared to last year.
According to travel agents the unsettled situation in the Middle East leads to higher interest in Bulgaria and part of the tourist flow is expected to shift to Bulgaria. The main reason for Bulgaria to be the logical choice is that most tourists prefer to exchange the resorts in Egypt with such from the same price segment and Bulgaria offers exactly that.
